Southern Appalachia

Tour Dates:

Best dates are during the first 10 days of May. Contact Gene to discuss custom trip options for one or two individuals. This trip takes place in western North Carolina. The routes and itinerary we have used in the recent years have been significantly affected by storm Helene but other options remain.

The southern part of the Blue Ridge Parkway has wonderful warbler diversity, including some surprising species normally found much farther north. The scenery is breathtaking and the opportunities bountiful.

Michigan

Tour Dates:

Best dates for lower peninsula sites are generally between May 17 and the end of May. Best dates for the upper peninsula sites are generally between May 25 and through the first week of June. Contact Gene to discuss custom trip options for one or two individuals to one or both areas.

Amazing locations that are rarely birded. Our primary targets will be the rare Kirtland’s Warbler, the Golden-winged Warbler, and Mourning and Nashville Warblers as we work habitat well known to Gene in the upper half of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Then we travel to a location in the upper peninsula where we will target boreal species such as Cape May, Magnolia, Blackburnian, and Northern Waterthrush. 12 plus warbler species are possible at this boreal forest location.

Tennessee and/or Kentucky

Best dates are between April 20 and the end of April. Contact Gene to discuss custom trip options for one or two individuals to one or both areas. Can possibly be combined with Georgia and/or Southern Appalachia locations.

KENTUCKY AND TENNESSEE

Our primary targets in Tennessee will be the beautiful Cerulean, Blue-winged, Kentucky, Prairie and Hooded warblers. Ovenbird, Worm-eating, Yellow-throated warbler, and Louisiana Waterthrush are also Tennessee target species.
